The breeder chooses the reproducers holding only “selected” subjects, or animals without haunch dysplasia and consistent with the race standards. After the birth, until the puppy will stay in the dog farm, the breeder has frequently to make contact with it: during those days the puppy lives a real quite period where it realizes the “imprinting” on humans that will define the next behavioural develop.

Quickly it come the day when the dog should leave the dog farm to begin its life with the family, and, it will be the breeder, by means of an interview, to establish if the people who wants the puppy is qualified to become the owner of a German shepherd then, later the invitation to come back to the dog farm, after not more than two months, to check out the development of the dog and then to check the dog on a preventive examination of the dysplasia, so if the is the will to show it on some dog expert expositions.

Where it lives
Before to take the puppy at home, you have just thought where you place it.
In the winter you can place it in a dry and sheltered place giving it a dog’s bed.
The places where the dog can move they must be lacking of dangers or everything it could break hurting itself and consequently bringing your disappointment.
Both the garden and the place where it lives, the faeces have to be removed and the zone frequently cleaned and disinfected. The puppy which lives at home can easily get used to dirty out on condition that happens after the meals.
The Feeding
We cannot certainly illustrate the principles of the dog feeding but we can only give suggestions and yardsticks useful to keep tour dog in good health.
The puppy
• 2 meals for day: in the morning form 8 to 9; in the evening from 19 to 20;
• The meals must be left behind to favour the digestion of previous ones;
• The alimentary foundations: dried bread, corn flakes, meat, milk or soup; there are some feeders suitable for every years exigencies and they replace in excellent way the traditional feeding: anyway it always be left some water at disposal;
• To integrate every week the diet with two or three yolks of eggs;
• Until five/six months it is good to add on the diet an integrator composed by vitamins and mineral salts;
• You must always give, at least one time for week, a big bone to gnaw because it constitutes a toy, a food and a teeth cleansing. You have to carry on with two daily meals even over it is one year old. Some foods are more or less desirable. To change the feeding involves, often, diarrhoea consequences. With regard to the quantity, we provide only yardsticks seeing that it varies with the age, the movement, the climate (summer or winter). The puppy after the meal it must not show excessive swellings: you have to give the right feeding. Aren’t you deceptive by its fake hunger, because if you always satisfy it can be the cause of big intestinal troubles and consequently, big worries for you. A dog on growing eats, proportionally, more than an adult dog; the last one eats more than a elderly dog; a dog which makes a lot of movement burns more than a dog which lives in a apartment. In the summer the dog eats less than in the winter, so the meals must not be warm, more fluid and less rich in fatty. You always take the water in some holders don’t made of plastic materials because it easily gnaw at them and it can unfortunately meddle them. The dog must always eat with appetite and in short times. You don’t leave it some remain food and you don’t make it run immediately after the meals!
At Home
During first days, the puppy will be a little bit out of place, that’s why it is good to keep it your company, for it could instil a liking for you, you get it used to the new background by degrees without expect much from it.
You always bear in mind that the puppy before to come into your life, it was in the dog farm together with the others, nursed and loved day after day, but thanks to your capacity to bring it up then it easily get used to get on the car: this must happen only by driving careful and slow.
If it should go away, you have to call it back without run to it but you stop, you crouch and in a moderate way you can persuade it to come with you. It needs to be sure that the dog feels good to run to you so you repay its dutiful behaviour with a loving caress.
The dog has to get used to be kept on the leash since it is two months old:
You don’t comply with useless behaviours, but you encourage those defence instinctive reactions that are concretely useful.
No worms treatments
Among the main vaccinations we remember:
• Distemper;
• Leptospirosis;
• Hepatitis;
• Parvovirus.
The Filaria
Some zones of the Po Valley are infested by mosquitoes that are the way for the filaria infestation, a parasite that nests, adulte, in the dog’s heart until it obstructs the vital functions.
In order to avoid this infestation it is necessary to make the proper treatments that you started since the puppy is few months old.
Adept hands like those of a veterinary make this treatments.
